Why a 808 nm diode laser?
The 808 nm wavelength is widely considered the gold standard for permanent hair removal. It penetrates deep enough to reach the hair bulb (3-4 mm) while being preferentially absorbed by melanin in the follicle. Compared to alexandrite (755 nm), the 808 nm wavelength is safer across a broader range of skin types — covering Fitzpatrick I to IV reliably. Compared to Nd:YAG (1064 nm), 808 nm is more efficient on lighter skin types and significantly less painful at equivalent fluences.
The Luminalaze achieves 3,000 W optical peak power with integrated handpiece contact cooling. The cooling head pre-cools the epidermis to about 4°C, allowing higher energy delivery to the follicle without thermal injury to the surface. Adjustable frequency from 1 to 20 Hz allows operators to choose between maximum power per pulse (single-shot mode for thick hair) and high-speed sliding technique (large body areas).
